Mr Lecturer Season 2

Episode 41

I opened my eyes to find myself in a hospital. My wife, my mother in law and detective Johnson were all present with a look of concern on their faces. I tried to smile but was unsuccessful. I tried to talk but couldn’t.

‘’oh dear Lord, he’s finally awake’’ Jessica breathed happily, handed over my little daughter to her mother, drew forward and sat beside me on the bed, touching my chest.

‘’baby’’ she breathed. I tried once again to force myself to talk but still couldn’t.

‘’please relax dearest. You are still in shock’’ Jessica said softly. I speechlessly stared at her as I slowly remembered what put me on the hospital bed. I quickly remembered Comfort. My heart beat quickly increased. I became overly scared.
I was scared because comfort was still free out there, probably lying in wait for Jessica and my little daughter. No one was there to stop her. I alone knew what the d##n girl was capable of. She shot me for God’s sake.

‘’I think he’s trying to say something but it’s a pity we have to wait till he recovers his speech’’ detective Johnson said aloud and shrugged.

‘’my God who could have done this to you. You have been here for almost eight hours. Two bullets were removed from your body. Luckily none of your vital organs were hit but you lost a lot of bl0*d’’ Jessica said to me. I felt very bad. I cursed comfort for putting me is such lame condition. I cursed the day I met her. I simply stared at my loved ones unable to say a word.

‘’well I think it’s a case of robbery gone wrong. The hoodlums must have seen you and your mother leave the house and never expected to find your husband at home. A scuffle ensured and he got shot. They then went ahead to ransack the whole apartment and steal every valuable thing they could find. The most confusing thing here is why none of your neighbors saw a thing?. I guess they are scared of getting involved or they don’t trust the police. None of them are saying anything and I cant even find the good neighbor who used your husband’s phone to call me. She really saved his life with it. I guess we have to wait till he gets better. Perhaps he can give us a lead.’’ the detective summarized while I listened painfully. I just couldn’t do anything than listen.

A doctor soon walked in with a smile, checked me up and tapped my shoulder.
‘’you are a very strong man Mr Caleb. You will be discharged in few days. Just keep the spirit up’’ he said professionally.

I woke up very early the next day to see Jessica sleeping on a chair beside me. Tears fell from my eyes as I watched her silently. Of course I deserved everything happening to me. I brought ant infested wood into my house and deserved everything I got out of it. But Jessica didn’t deserve all these. I just couldn’t imagine what comfort was up to, nor where she was. I felt so helpless watching my wife so vulnerable unaware of the risk she was facing.

My eyes closed once again as the thoughts crossed my mind. I slept afterwards, waking hours later to see Jessica smiling at me.

‘’my love. My dearest. I so much love you” she breathed with a smile. I swallowed hard.

‘’you are so brave my darling. You stay strong’’ she added, kissing my forehead.

‘’our daughter is with my mother. They spent the night in my dad’s house. I will be leaving for some minutes. I have to go freshen up, feed our daughter and get your food. I will be back in thirty minutes. I equally spoke with your parents last night. They will come over today’’ she said sweetly.

‘’Comfort. Comfort. comfort shot me’’ I stammered, shocking my dear wife with the unexpected news. She instantly gasped.

‘’what!, comfort did what?’’ she asked with disbelief.

‘’call detective Johnson. Tell him the d##n girl is out in the loose. You are in danger. You and our daughter is her target. Please call the detective.’’ I begged, sweat drenching my body as I used up all my strength to talk.

‘’of course I will. I will call the detective on my way out’’ she muttered, grabbed her bag and ran out… I quietly prayed to God to guide and protect her.

‘’dear lord please don’t let anything happen to her’’ I prayed with tears.

Jessica had barely left the hospital when comfort appeared from nowhere showing up like a ghost. I panicked on seeing her. I just didn’t know what to make of her presence. I couldn’t figure out if she was there to finish me up or to do something else. I helplessly stared at her as she drew closer and sat on my bed with a face devoid of any expression.

Episode 42

Comfort sat beside me, felt my pulse and breathed deeply.

‘’I’m really very sorry my love. you know i never meant to shoot you. I even risked everything just to be with you right now. I know the police are already looking for me’’ she muttered and swallowed hard.

‘’you shot me’’I said accusingly.

‘’you know I never meant to. You are the last person I will ever hurt deliberately’’she replied slowly as tears quickly filled her eyes.

‘’but you were in my house to kill my wife? What did she do to deserve such attempt on her life?’’ I queried breathlessly. Her eyes quickly lit up. She bit her lips and closed her eyes for a second.

‘’she killed my baby. The d##n woman killed my child with her trickery’’ she exploded, shaking with rage.
‘’she got in my way. She refused leaving you for anything’’ she poured out like someone possessed with a bad spirit. I felt like slapping her that moment not withstanding how weak I was. I really was filled with anger, but couldn’t do a thing.

‘’I wasn’t born to be a desperate cold hear-ted girl but the world pushed me into it. I was raised in a very poor family where I did everything to survive. I had nobody to help or provide for me like your parents did for you. In the process, I was used and dumped countless times by men like an old rag. I never believed in love until you came into my life but everything still turned against me. You were married. You never loved me. We cant even have kids. Nothing has ever gone well for me’’ she poured out miserably.

‘’I have decided to leave. I have decided to free you and your life. I’m leaving the country. I’m traveling to Ghana. I have concluded every arrangement and I used part of the money and things I got from your apartment to get it done. A cab is waiting for me outside. I don’t think we will ever meet again. But you need to know that the love I have for you is greater than what your wife feels for you. Before I leave, I do need your forgiveness. I’m sorry for shooting you. I’m sorry for messing up your life’’ she breathed solemnly. I just couldn’t believe my ears. I just didn’t know what to tell her. Nevertheless i was glad she was about doing the right thing even though i felt she was going about it the wrong way.

‘’you are not doing this for me. I know you are running away’’ I breathed. She stared at me for some seconds, shook her head and breathed deeply.

‘’you are always very inconsiderate. I should have let you die when you helplessly fell in your apartment, but no. I stopped your bleeding and called the police. Would you have done that for me, supposing I was the one who got shot?. I guess you don’t know what it feels to wake up every morning uncertain of your future, uncertain of your next meal. You haven’t sacrificed anything in life. I know you wont forgive me, but I’m leaving’’ she added, kissed me and got up.

‘’it pains me to do this. I will forever miss you’’ she breathed and turned to leave.

‘’wait’’ I suddenly said, forcing her to stop and face me with eyes filled with tears.

‘’I forgive you. I pray God guides you in every step you take from now onwards. But why are you throwing away your future by running away?. You haven’t done your national youth service yet. I can get the police to stop looking for you. You can finish up the program-me and make something out of your life’’ I offered with all sincerity. She smiled and shook her head.

‘’no I cant stay back. There are many things you still don’t know about me’’ she breathed .
Just that moment, detective Johnson, Henry and a girl who looked very familiar walked in.

On seeing them, she quickly drew back and pulled out a pistol from her handbag, surprising everyone, most especially the detective who was caught totally off-guard.

‘’drop your weapon sir, unless you want people to get hurt. You know this is a hospital’’ she said to the detective whose right hand was already on the butt of his gun. He nervously looked around like a cornered rat, not sure whether to obey the command or not. Comfort laughed and stared at Henry.

‘’you know what I’m capable of?. I shot you once and you survived, randy goat. Tell the cop to toss his gun” she shouted at a terribly scared Henry who nervously faced the detective.

‘’please sir, do as she says. She has nothing to lose in life and so is capable of shooting everyone. Please drop your weapon sir’’ he begged the detective who slowly pulled out his gun and dropped it on the floor, kicking it towards Comfort..

The room instantly became silent and hot.. Our hearts all pounded furiously.

Episode 43

‘’you know you aren’t getting away with this. You better surrender, let’s end this peacefully’’’ the detective said professionally but his words had no effect on comfort who simply laughed.

‘’seems like you didn’t understand what Mr. Henry said to you?. Mr. detective, I have nothing to lose, moreover how will you stop me from getting away?. You are all alone with no backup. You are facing my gun’’ she said with a soft laugh.

‘’and who told you I have no backup?’’ the detective asked.

‘’I know you came alone. You never expected to see me here’’she answered with a shrug.

‘’don’t be too sure’’’ the detective stammered, trying his best to talk Comfort into putting down her weapon but his words failed to have any effect on her.

‘’Comfort why are you making things more difficult to you?. You can’t get away with this’’ I managed to say.

‘’don’t worry about me, I have always been in difficult conditions. This isn’t an exception’’ she replied and eyed the girl standing with Henry.

‘’even you?.i thought we were friends’’ she said to the girl who almost pissed on herself out of fright. It was very obvious the girl, Henry and comfort were somehow mixed up in something I just couldn’t place my hand on. It was very clear that Henry knew so much about comfort that he admitted to me.

‘’I think the best option should be for you to leave now that you have the chance’’ Henry cautiously muttered, drawing back comfort’s attention to himself.

‘’you had the chance to help me when I so desperately needed help but instead of helping , you felt it was better to take advantage of a helpless girl. Don’t even try preaching any nonsense to me’’ she shouted at Henry, Cocking her gun in the process.

‘’you needed money which I gave to you via my own condition. I never asked you join cultism. I never asked you to cheat in your exams, I wasn’t the school panel that rusticated you. Simply walk away now and find a way of fixing your life instead of blaming everyone. Or do you want to shoot us first ?. Will it make you happy?’’ Henry suddenly blasted, speaking out as if he wasn’t scared of getting shot anymore. I simply listened on, unable to understand what was actually going on.

‘’in which school was comfort rusticated?’’ I wondered,
‘’no it isn’t my school. What are they talking about?’’ I wondered uncomfortably.

‘’’so you told your cousin that I’m a cultist?, after everything I did for you. My mess with Caleb even started because of you. I slept with him so that you could pass and graduate’’ Comfort suddenly faced the scared girl once again with red eyes.

‘’no, no let’s be sincere, you didn’t sleep with Mr. Caleb because of me. You did it because you wanted him for yourself, using the exam I missed as an opportunity to get close to him’’ the girl quickly defended, while I helplessly laid on the bed and listened on . I couldn’t believe the whole twists were so real. I felt so horrible listening to how I was used.

‘’anyway I have you all where I want. What will stop me from shooting you all and saving the last bullet for myself?. I’m tired of living in a world full of lies’’ she threatened, forcing me to sit up with great pain.

‘’I really need to know the truth. I’m still very confused. What’s going on?’’ I asked, drawing every attention back to myself. Unfortunately my mother in law walked in that moment with little Jessica in her arms, something I never expected to happen. It was very obvious they missed Jessica on the way.

‘’dear Lord’’ I gasped as the old woman walked in and froze with shock on sighting comfort holding a gun.
Comfort looked at me and smiled. My head exploded with tension. I couldn’t believe that the nurses on duty outside my room were yet to realize that something closer to a hostage situation was going on in their premises.

‘’please shut the door madam’’ Comfort commanded my mother in law who quickly obeyed.

‘’so what stops me from killing Jessica’s child just like she killed mine?’’ she asked, but no one made a single comment.

‘’please madam, hand over the baby to the good young man by your side’’ she commanded once again, leaving my mother in law with no choice than to hand over little Jessica to the detective who kind of had a hard time carrying the child. It was quite obvious he wasn’t used to it. I simply watched on, so terribly scared.

‘’I’m leaving for good. I’m so sorry things got this messy’’ Comfort said, throwing a quick look at me.

‘’good bye my love. You can now enjoy your life. You can now fix everything and start all over. I will never forget you though’’ she added, picked up the detective’s gun and ran out of the room like a quick athlete.
The detective gently returned little Jessica to my mother in law and ran after her but unfortunately the time he wasted handing the baby back to my mother in law was enough to give comfort a clear chance to getaway.

A gunshot soon rang out as the detective made his way to the crowded hospital reception, causing great uproar that shook the whole building. It was obvious someone has been shot.

‘’I hope someone hasn’t been shot?’’ I pondered with fear as we all stared at each other, Henry, my mother in law and the familiar looking lady.

Episode 45…

‘’well I guess It’s now time to explain myself’’ Henry muttered , breathing heavily. We all nodded, eagerly waiting for his own side of the story.

‘’I met comfort through my cousin some years back and as a young man was very much attracted to her, but her behavior kind of pushed me off because the silly girl simply friendzoned me upon everything I did to win her. So I had to walk away and move on with my life even though I still saw her occasionally through my cousin until she had problem in her department which she needed cash to settle. I cashed in on the opportunity, had s#x with her and gave her the money. Ever since then, she totally blacklisted and turned me to her enemy.
She stopped every contact with me and having nothing to lose I equally avoided her until about a year and half later when Caleb invited her to my hotel.
The d##n girl pretended not to know me and I equally pretended not to know her since I knew all my friend Caleb wanted was just to catch fun with her. I felt telling him about our past would definitely spoil his game and as a friend, I kept my mouth shut and allowed him to catch his fun but soon afterwards it became a constant thing for both of them and before I knew what was happening Caleb started avoiding me.
I tried numerous times to reach out to him, but he always had an excuse to avoid me. Of course I wasn’t a fool to force myself on anyone. So I also had to keep my distance until I read on paper about him taking advantage of a student and putting her in a family way. And the girl in question was no other person than Comfort. I tried once again to reach out to my friend but he still avoided me. Isn’t it so’’ he wrapped up, throwing a quick look at me. I nodded with embarrassment.

‘’’however , I forced myself to visit him in his office few months later, after reading another publication posted about him and Comfort. At first he wasn’t too pleased to see me, but later confided in me, telling me his story. I really felt pity and wanted to help, even though deep down I felt comfort’s child wasn’t his, knowing the girl’s history. Nevertheless I offered to help out in getting a house for Comfort, which I did.
I desperately looked for a way to get Caleb suspicious of the girl’s pregnancy without being too direct since I wasn’t sure if the baby was actually his or not and so had to tell him the truth about Comfort’s doctor, hoping that it will give him enough reason to be suspicious which it did but unfortunately the baby turned out to be his child after the second DNA test was conducted, clearing every suspicion.
But I don’t know how comfort found out that I had a hand in it and called me for the first time to threaten me. According to her words, Caleb is the reason she’s still alive and if I should take him away from her. She won’t have any reason to live again and she won’t go down alone. She threatened to kill Caleb, Jessica and everyone who stood in her way before committing suicide. Of course I knew she was deadly serious about it and had no choice than to keep my mouth shut for Jessica’s sake. The poor woman has no reason to die over something she knew nothing about. I kept quiet to protect Jessica and her baby. Still the d##n girl shot me. She tried to kill me’’ he summarized with a heavy tone, leaving the room deadly quiet after his long speech.

Jessica instantly began crying while my mother drew close and held her. My good friend, the priest instantly cleared his throat.

‘’finally we have gotten rid of the devil and every secret has been revealed. We should all thank God that things ended the way it did. Let’s now forget about the past and forge ahead with our lives. My son Caleb made a mistake by cheating on his wife and there isn’t any doubt he paid dearly for it. But God forgave him the moment he realized his sins and ran to him. I still remember the very first day he came to me, crying and confessing. I told him what to do and he followed it to the last. Please let us forgive him. He has suffered enough’’ he begged everyone, leaving his gaze on Jessica who wiped her tears , drew close and sat beside me.

‘’marriage is for better or for worse. We made the vow together and I have always stayed by your side. Yes I have long forgiven you. I have nothing against you and I do love you with all my heart’’ she breathed, forcing tears down my eyes with her words.

‘’what matters most is learning from your mistakes. A man who makes a mistake and tries to correct it, is indeed a real man. You are a real man, my love’’ she breathed and kissed me, creating an emotional scene with her action.

‘’we also have to beg the young detective with us here. We have to appeal to him to close this case. If not Caleb may end up in another trouble if he proceeds with the case’’ my mother in law added, making everyone to face the detective, pleading at the same time. Detective Johnson blushed and looked down.

‘’yes I will find a way to close the case. We are all like family now. Isn’t it so’’ he said with a calm smile. Everyone clapped with happiness…

I was discharged from the hospital four days later, returning home to meet a great homecoming party my wife organized for me. My family, friends, colleagues were all present and it was such a happy reunion and a new beginning for me and my lovely wife.

Comfort never showed up till this day and nothing on earth would make me cheat on my wife ever again.
Cheating is bad. One way or the other you will get to pay for it. i almost lost my job, my family and my life over it. I was definitely lucky to survive in the end…. I sought for redemption on time and God helped me. Moreover I had an understanding wife and a great family..

Please dear friends, try to understand and stand by your spouse in difficult moments. Remember two heads are better than one..

Jessica and i still live together as one happy family till this day. Our house now filled with kids.
